The boycott of class by Basic School teachers in the Tamale Metropolis of the Northern Region has entered day two.
The boycott is as a result of an allege assault on the headteacher and staff of the Nyohini Presby Cluster of Schools by some macho men.
The attack took place on Thursday January 28 after some macho men numbering six stormed the school over accusing the Headteacher of selling PPEs and other school materials to parents.
After some confrontations with the school authorities, the macho men allegedly started to assault the teachers.
It took the intervention of some Community members to bring the situation under control.
Teachers in the school on Friday January 29, declared a sit down strike.
Fast forward on Monday February 1, their counterparts in other circuits and the Tamale metro as a whole joined them to boycott class.
According to the aggrieved teachers in a petition presented to the Tamale Metro Director of Education on Monday February 1, the sit down strike will only be called off if the perpetrators are arrested and prosecuted. They also enumerated some concerns they want addressed.

Meanwhile, the spokesperson for the Conference of Basic School teachers Ampomah K. Bismark has expressed worry over the continuous attacks on teachers in the Tamale metropolis.
According to him, the situation has out the lives of teachers at risk. He noted, they are fed up with the attacks hence their action.
