The Social Security and National Insurance Trust has dismissed its manager of management information system (MIS), Dr. Caleb Afaglo who is alleged to have presented fake degrees in securing the job.

The decision was taken in a meeting held on Wednesday by the board and management of the trust in Accra.

A statement issued and signed by the acting corporate affairs manager of the trust, Victoria Abaidoo said evidence made available to the trust indicates that the university degrees presented by Dr. Afaglo to secure his job at the trust were fake.

The issues surrounding Dr Afaglo’s academic qualification follows allegation of misuse of funds at the trust in the purchase of the operating business suite (OBS) at a whopping amount of $72 million which is believed to have been ballooned.

The statement announcing his sack said “the trust will collaborate with the economic and organized crime office EOCO to ensure that those suspected of breaches of the law in respect of the OBS contract are dealt with in accordance with the laws of the land.

“We are committed to cleaning up the trust and rightly positioning it to serve the interest of its stakeholders” the statement added.

It further gave the assurance that the people connected with the OBS contract will soon be named as well as publishing the findings of the Price-water-house coopers.
