The district chief executive for Afram Plains south who double as the chairman of the Afram Plains South District Security Council (DIASEC), Hon. George Ofori has revealed that as he recently promised, the security force which is also known as Operation Cow Leg, has begun with their operation to calm the issues of Fulani herdsmen and the indigenous farmers.
Speaking to Okwawu news, Hon. George Ofori said the security force landed yesterday and start work today.
“The expectation from the Operations Cow Leg is to cover the entire District and deal with cattle destroying the farm produce of the local farmers”, he added.
According to the DCE, instead of the cattle to destroy the farm produce to create a scarcity of foodstuff, the cattle should rather perish because life depends on foodstuff, not animals.
“We have met in several meetings with the herdsmen to settle this issue, and after every meeting, they accept, leave and then return when the grasses are dry in the dry season to do otherwise”, he stated. “And so for now, there is no other option than to kill their animals”, he added.
He further assured the farmers to keep calm, as the Operation Cow Leg will continue to patrol until the menace is over.
