The Minority Caucus of Parliament has threatened to boycott the President’s State of the Nation Address ( SONA ) next week Thursday, February 20th if the Common Fund for the 3rd quarter of 2019 is not released to the MPs by Friday 14th February 2020.

The Member of Parliament for Bodi Hon Sampson Ahi made this known today to journalists at Parliament House in an interview.

He described the delay in the release of the MPs Common Fund as a deliberate attempt by the government to sabotage the Minority members of Parliament ahead of the December 7th election.

President Akufo-Addo is expected to deliver the State of the Nation Address in Parliament on Thursday, February 20, 2020.

The delivery of the 2020 State of the Nation Address is in accordance with Article 67 of the 1992 Constitution of the Republic of Ghana and the Standing Orders of the Parliament of Ghana.

Article 67 of the Constitution states that “The President shall, at the beginning of each session of Parliament and before a dissolution of Parliament, deliver to Parliament a message on the State of the Nation”.
