Major roads within the Kwahu Afram Plains South District are said to have a facelift soon.
In an interview with the District Chief Executive Officer of the District, Mr. Ofori George, he disclosed that the major roads within the District have been captured under the second phase of the hydroproject and would be attended to in the shortest time.
“I know one of the major problems within Afram Plains is the road network. My predecessors have played major roles in seeing to it that the road is in good shape. As I speak with you, the first phase of the hydroproject has ended and the second phase is bound to commence soon. Our major road has been captured and it would be attended to” he said.
When asked what the district has done so far about the road, he said they are currently re-shaping the road.
“As you saw when coming, the Assembly is currently doing reshaping of the road. We have done major parts of the Tease-Ekye highway and also working on other roads connecting the District Capital (Tease) to the nearby communities” he added.
The main road leading from Ekye through Tease to Agordeke in the Kwahu Afram Plains has been the major hindrance to development in both the Afram Plains North and South Districts. There have been series of press conferences to draw the attention of the past and present Government to it but all prove futile. During the 2019 budget reading, the people of Afram Plains were all expecting their road to be captured since the year was marked as ‘Year of Roads’ but got the highest disappointment of their life. It is the prayer of the indigence that, their road would be attended to in the near future.
