The minority member in parliament for Ningo Prampram, Mr Sam Nartey George has called on government to give justice and compensation for eight out of sixteen victims of the Ayawaso West Wougon by – election violence which happened two years ago.
Making a statement on the floor of Parliament to mark the second anniversary, Hon Sam George revealed that, despite the recommendations of the President’s commission of inquiry to compensate the eight out of the sixteen and the acceptance of same in the white paper, these eight innocent citizens have been ignored by the State.
He added that a group of wives whose spouses were victims of violence petitioned the government through the Ministry of Gender for action on their compensation but no response.
However the majority chief whip, Hon Frank Annor Dompreh expressed disappointment in the statement made by his colleague member Hon Sam George.
Reacting to the statement made to the house, Hon Annor Dompreh stated that, there has being more bloody by elections which has happen in the country, citing Atiwa, Cherponi and Akwatia by –
elections which did not receive compensation from the state.
The MP for Nsawam Adoagyire Hon Dompreh challenged that, for there to be equity and justice, and fairness from the government, all these people must be compensated.
He added that, the law on vigilantism which was passed is there to serve as a guide.
