A communications expert, Dr. Messan Mawugbe has described as unfortunate the continuous communication misses and conduct of some government appointees.
According to him, the development has become recurrent because of the appointees’ inability to manage the power at their disposal.
Contributing to discussions on the resignation of the Deputy Agric Minister William Quaittoo over an ethnocentric comment he made about people from the north, Dr. Mawugbe admonished the need for the government to orient its ministers on communication on regular basis.
Mr. Quaittoo resigned over an ethnocentric comment he made about people from the northern region that they are difficult people after farmers in the region demanded compensation from the government as a result of the fall army worm invasion that according to them has caused devastation to their farms.
This received a backlash from the public as well as the minority in parliament calling for his resignation.
The Minister of Defense, Dominic Nitiwul dispatching the operation vanguard team, an anti galamsey task-force set by the government to stem the activities of illegal mining in the country, he cautioned illegal miners not to “dare” the task-force.
Ministers of Education and information at a press briefing on government’s free senior high education said “Ghanaians are difficult to govern when responding to a question posed to him on a school with deplorable ICT facilities. Dr. Mawugbe speaking on Okwawu FM’s Ghana Te Sen political talk-show at Nkawkaw in the Eastern Region, admonished the need for government to school its appointees on inter -cultural and cross cultural communication to enhance their skills in communication.
“You create a problem for yourself if you have no knowledge about the culture of people you are communicating to, hence the need for government to orient its appointees on media relation management or strategy to know how to communicate properly to the media and the public as a whole, he said.”
